Oxygen therapy: A revitalizing breath of fresh air
The dissolved oxygen pressure in arterial blood declines with age and stress. This can cause reduced physical capacity as well as organ dysfunction. If in addition the blood vessels become restricted as a result of deposits along the arterial walls, this can cause a further insufficient supply of oxygen.
This deficiency can be counteracted by an additional intake of vitamin supplements, breathing-in of (ionized) oxygen and regular exercise. The reduced oxygen partial pressure in the arteries is increased by therapeutic measures, leading to a reduction in the partial pressure in the veins. Blood capillaries begin to expand and blood circulation through the body is again improved. The capacity of the lungs to absorb oxygen is enhanced, guaranteeing an optimal supply of oxygen to the entire human system.
